FRENCH GRAND PRIX CANCELLED, FIRST RACE TO BE HELD IN TRIESTE , ITALY

 
 Class One Management Limited, promoter of the Class 1 World Offshore Championship, today announced that the initial Grand Prix of the 2002 Championship will be held in Trieste on the 16^th of June, not in Marseille on the 2^nd of June as originally scheduled.

Mr. Ugur Isik, Chairman of Class One Management, stated “Given the limited organizational time after confirmation of this season’s Championship, various issues with local authorities regarding confirmation of the race course and venue location within the city of Marseille, and uncertainties with local authorities related to water and rescue safety, and after consultation with the local promoter, there was really no alternative but to determine to begin the Championship in Trieste.”

The 2002 Championship will still include eight Grand Prix events, held according to the following schedule:
